Air France-KLM: still thinking about future of Joon

(CercleFinance.com) - According to Les Echos today, Air France-KLM is not considering getting rid of its low-cost subsidiary Joon, which it launched just a year ago, contrary to recently circulated information.

However, at this stage, no decision has been taken.

Although Benjamin Smith has not revealed anything regarding his intentions, some say that he wants to promote the Air France brand. It could be linked to Joon - like HOP! Air France, or even take its place, purely and simply, Les Echos says. With its 600 employees, Joon, which has costs that are 15% below those of Air France, with the help of younger staff, is expected to reach break-even next year.

Another possibility is that Air France and Joon no longer go to the same destinations - indeed, Joon could even refocus on low-cost long-haul flights.
