Nokia: selected by Bharti Airtel for 5G in India

(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia announced Wednesday that it has been selected by Bharti Airtel to deploy part of its 5G network in India, the world's second largest mobile phone market after China.

The Finnish telecoms company said that it had been awarded the contract to deploy around 45% of the operator's 5G mobile phone network with its RAN radio access technology.

Nokia will supply its "AirScale" radio access platform for 5G, as well as its massive "MIMO" antennas.

The financial terms of this multi-year contract - which crowns 18 years of collaboration between the two groups on 2G, 3G and 4G - were not specified.

Little impact though, with the Nokia share down slightly after lunch today: note that is down over 8% YTD.
