Nokia: signs two new 5G deals

(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia has signed two new 5G deals, including one with New Zealand operator Spark, the Finnish telecom equipment maker said on Monday.

Nokia has been selected by Spark for its roster of 5G suppliers, meaning that the company's 5G technology will be deployed across New Zealand as part of the carrier's 5G network.

As one of the radio access network (RAN) equipment suppliers for Spark's 5G upgrade, Nokia will deploy its solution at more than 200 sites, the group said.

Nokia has also secured a commercial contract from DoCoMo Pacific to deliver first commercial 5G in the Marianas, it said.

The deals are Nokia's 49th and 50th 5G commercial contracts, demonstrating its solid momentum in 5G.

Nokia also said that it has now deployed private wireless networks for more than 120 customers across multiple industries and geographies, allowing new applications such as cloud, IoT, AI and machine learning.

The Nokia shares were broadly unchanged on Euronext Paris (-0.1%) after these announcements.
