Repsol: start-up of Atacama wind farm

(CercleFinance.com) - Repsol Ibereólica Renovables Chile, a joint venture between Repsol and Ibereólica Renovables, has announced the start of electricity production at the Atacama wind farm, the second wind project developed jointly by the two companies, with an installed capacity of 165.
3 MW.

The project includes 29 Nordex wind turbines which have already started to feed 100% renewable energy megawatt hours into the grid.

The Atacama Wind Farm will produce over 450 GWh of clean energy per year, equivalent to the average annual consumption of 150,000 homes, and will avoid more than 320,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere per year.

Before construction began, both companies signed a 14-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), guaranteeing a double-digit return on this renewable generation asset.

There's no wind today though, with the Repsol share flat in Madrid.
