Siemens Gamesa: wins order for Brazilian wind project

(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens Gamesa has won an order from the US energy group AES to supply 52 wind turbines for a project in Brazil, the industrial group said on Wednesday.


The Spanish company said it will provide AES with its 170-meter rotor variants, its latest generation of onshore wind turbines.

The Tucano wind farm will be located in the state of Bahia and is scheduled for commissioning in 2021, Siemens Gamesa said.

While Brazil largely relies on hydroelectricity, wind power is seen as a complementary technology due to the country's exceptional wind resources, notably during the dry season.
