E.ON: E1.8bn bond issue

ON has announced that it has issued two bond tranches with a combined volume of 1.8 billion euros in the first week of 2023, a transaction that attracted strong demand from investors, with an order book of 5.9 billion euros.

The bonds include 800 million euro bonds maturing in January 2028 with a coupon of 3.500%, on the one hand, and 1 billion euro green bonds (intended to finance ecological projects) maturing in January 2035, with a coupon of 3.875%, on the other.

With over 1 billion euros of pre-financing already executed in 2022, this issue enables the German energy group to secure most of its financing needs for 2023 at the beginning of the year.
