E.ON: calls for green-gas quota

(CercleFinance.com) - E.
ON is calling for a green-gas quota in the run-up to National Hydrogen Council meeting established by the German federal government, which is scheduled for this week.

In a statement, the German utility group said the share of fossil gases must continue to decline, with that of green gas increasing.

"If we want to be fully decarbonized by 2050, gas needs to progressively become green," commented Thomas König, the member of the E.ON management board responsible for network operations.

E.ON believes that, alongside the use of renewable electricity, green gas will become a "key facet" of the energy transition.

"This will require a stable long-term regulatory environment and laws that promote investment," König added.

E.ON pointed out that the introduction of quota for green gas could help achieve this.
