E.ON: smart grid project deployed in southern Sweden.

ON has implemented a stand-alone grid solution, which combines sun and wind in the small village of Simris in southern Sweden, the German utility giant said on Wednesday.

The 100% renewable energy project, is expected to provide enough energy for approximately 140 households, will run for three years.

The energy basically comes from wind turbines with installed capacity of 500 kilowatts and photovoltaic panels with 440 kW, supported by a battery system of 800 kW capacity.

The project implemented in Simris is part of the EU project InterFlex, which includes six innovative grid projects in Europe, E.ON said.
