BASF: methanol partnership with Acie Bio

(CercleFinance.com) - BASF and Acies Bio announce a partnership to develop methanol-based fermentation technology to produce fatty alcohols, key components of personal care and household products.


Acies Bio has created the OneCarbonBio platform, capable of transforming renewable methanol (from captured CO₂) into chemical raw materials. BASF and Acies Bio will collaborate to use specialized microbes and intensify the production of chemical compounds via fermentation.

This project aims to diversify renewable raw materials and strengthen BASF's global chemical care supply chain.

Dr. Matthias Maase, BASF's Global Head of Sustainability, believes this collaborative approach will bring benefits to customers in the personal care, home and industrial formulations sectors.
