Volkswagen: electric strategy charging up well
(CercleFinance.com) - Volkswagen has announced that it has made significant progress in "cleaning up" its vehicle fleet, saying that it sold 472,300 electric vehicles in the EU (plus Norway and Iceland), up 64% y-o-y.
The proportion of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) in total sales rose to 17.2% in 2921, compared with just 10.1% a year earlier.
This makes the Group the undisputed market leader in the BEV segment in Europe, with a market share of around 25%, Volkswagen said.
