Volkswagen: picks NXP to supply battery management systems
(CercleFinance.com) - NXP, Europe's second largest chipmaker, on Tuesday announced a collaboration with German auto giant Volkswagen focusing on electronics for electric vehicles (EVs).
The company said that Volkswagen has integrated its battery management systems into its modular electric drive matrix (MEB) platform, in a move to help increase vehicle range and extend battery life.
The collaboration comes as Volkswagen plans to launch up to 75 fully electric vehicle models by 2029, NXP said.
NXP's battery management solutions are intended to equip such cars as VW's ID.3, a plug-in hybrid, as well as luxury electric vehicles like Audi's e-Tron and Porsche's Taycan.
