Siemens: sells subsidiary Flender to Carlyle group

(CercleFinance.com) - On Thursday Siemens announced the sale of Flender, its subsidiary of transmission components for wind turbines, to US private equity giant Carlyle, base on an enterprise value of just over two billion euros.

The German industrial group says the deal - which is due to be finalised in the first half of 2021 - is part of its recent strategic refocusing.

Now rid of its activities in energy and health, the new Siemens intends to focus on digital transformation technologies for industry, on so-called "intelligent" infrastructures and on sustainable transport.

Last May Siemens announced its intention to separate from Flender, a British company that it bought for 1.2 billion euros in 2005.
