BMW: third quarter sales rebound

(CercleFinance.com) - German premium carmaker BMW said sales returned to growth in the third quarter after dropping by 23% in the first half of the year.

The Munich-based company announced this morning that group sales in the July to September period posted a "solid" rebound of 8.6%, with a total of 675,680 vehicles delivered to customers.

Growth was lifted by its largest single market, China, where sales of its BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce brands jumped by 31.1% to 230,612 vehicles in the past quarter.

However, Pieter Nota, the head of customer, brands, sales of the automaker, said the group was "especially pleased" with the sales growth of almost 50% in electrified vehicles.

"This makes electromobility a substantial growth driver," he said in a statement.

BMW shares were up 0.5% on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange after this report.
