ABB: wins transmission order for project in Pakistan

(CercleFinance.com) - Swiss engineering giant ABB on Monday said that it has won an order to provide high-voltage direct current (HVDC) converter stations to Tajikistan and Pakistan.


The clean energy transmission link is part of a World Bank-supported 330 million dollar project to bring hydropower to consumers in Pakistan.

More specifically, ABB's stations will enable the efficient transmission of renewable hydropower over a distance of 800 kilometres from generation sites in the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan to high consumption areas in Pakistan.

Spanish construction group Cobra will be responsible for the installation of the associated substations.
