Roche: former CEO elected chairman

(CercleFinance.com) - On Tuesday Roche's former chief executive, Severin Schwan, was elected chairman of the Swiss pharmaceutical company's board of directors.

The group's ordinary general meeting elected Severin Schwan by an overwhelming 98.3% majority, which will lead him to succeed Christoph Franz, the outgoing chairman.

This change comes as Thomas Schinecker today took over Severin Schwan's duties as Group CEO.

The other proposals of the Board of Directors were also adopted, as all other candidate Board members were elected by the shareholders.

The shareholders also backed an increase in the dividend for the past financial year to 9.50 Swiss francs per share and dividend-right certificate, the 36th consecutive increase in the Group's coupon.
