Alcon: buys US lens implant maker PowerVision

(CercleFinance.com) - Novartis' eye care unit Alcon has acquired PowerVision, a privately-owned US-based firm that is focused on creating fluid-based intraocular lens implants, the company said on Monday.


Under the terms of the agreement, Alcon paid 285 million dollars, with additional payments based on specified regulatory and commercial milestones as from 2023.

Alcon said it wants to bring to the market PowerVision's accommodating lenses to cataract patients.

After the deal, Alcon maintained its 2023 financial outlook provided at the end of 2018. The company's spin-off is still expected in the second quarter.
