BlackBerry: returns to profit on record software revenue
(CercleFinance.com) - BlackBerry said that it has returned to profit in the past quarter, helped by record software and services revenue.
The cybersecurity company reported net income of 51 million dollars, or 9 cents a share, for the fourth quarter ended 28 February, compared with a year-earlier loss of 10 million dollars, or 2 cents a share. The Canadian company's fourth-quarter non-GAAP software and services revenue climbed to 248 million dollars, up 14% year-on-year. BlackBerry - which recently completed the acquisition of AI and machine learning firm Cylance - also said total cash, cash equivalent, short-term and long-term investments was 1 billion dollars as of 28 February.
