Schlumberger: direct lithium extraction plant project

(CercleFinance.com) - Schlumberger New Energy today announced the development of a lithium extraction pilot plant in Clayton Valley, Nevada, USA, through its new company, NeoLith Energy.


NeoLith Energy will use a differentiated direct lithium extraction (DLE) process to enable the production of high-purity, battery-grade lithium while reducing production time from over a year to just a few weeks.

Schlumberger New Energy has invested over 15 million dollars in the DLE process and plans to make a similar investment in the development and operation of the Nevada pilot plant.

The company expects demand for battery-grade lithium to grow exponentially, driven by the growth of the electric vehicle (EV) market.
